Welcome to Darwen Amateur Swimming Club (DASC). We hope that this will be the start of many enjoyable years you spend with the Club. To help you understand the set up a little more we have prepared a welcome pack which you can download here. We hope you will find useful.
The Club was originally formed in 1882 and continued until 1914 (when presumably it closed at the start of the First World War). It re-formed in the current format in 1932.
The Club operates under the Swim England rules and conditions. Their website contains lots of information and advice including advice on social media.
The Club has two main aims
To teach members to swim to recognised Swim England standards, encouraging an appreciation of the sport which will last throughout their life.
To encourage children to fulfil their potential, emphasising sportsmanship and teamwork
Darwen Amateur Swimming Club has provided coaches to host and officiate at community galas for many years. The team gave their time voluntarily to make the following events happen including…
Blackburn Schools Swimming Gala
Darwen Schools Swimming Gala
Blackburn with Darwen Girl Guides Gala
Blackburn with Darwen Scout Gala
The club supports these events because we are passionate about Darwen and want to encourage as many children as possible to get swimming!
Our commitment to our kids is recognised by the SwimMark accreditation which is awarded by Swim England.

What is SwimMark about?
- Creating the best possible swimming experience for all
- Raising the quality of aquatics provision across all areas
- National Sport England Clubmark recognition for great quality clubs
